RUN. Just RUN. Worst hotel experience of my life. I booked a “family room” at Post Hotel in Iceland, and it honestly felt like I walked into a horror movie—except less fun and way more expensive. From the outside, the building is this creepy, peeling red box straight out of a haunted house. Inside? Somehow worse. Dust everywhere, like it hasn’t been aired out since the Viking era. No staff on site—you have to check in at the hotel next door and get some weird code like you’re entering a panic room. It already felt cursed. Our room? Genuinely disgusting. Hair stuck to the bathroom wall, stains everywhere, and it smelled like old dust and despair. And here’s the kicker: there are no shower walls. Like… none. So when someone showers, the entire bathroom AND room floods. And guess what? It did. Water everywhere. We told the staff at the other hotel (because no one works at Post Hotel), and two women did come to help clean it up—one of them was clearly annoyed and even tried to say flooding was “impossible,” which is wild because… it happened. This room cost €300 a night, and it should be €30 at best. I think we got the worst room in the whole hotel—and that’s saying something, because honestly the entire building is just bad. Also—the photos on the site are 100% Photoshopped. Nothing looks like it does online. And the reviews? Totally fake or suspiciously inflated. The listing is completely misleading and borderline scammy. This place should be rated 1 star, MAX. We booked through hotels.com. So we requested a refund, but they denied it. This wasn’t just uncomfortable—it was unsafe, unsanitary, and straight-up dishonest. Never again.

Das Hotel ist sehr gut. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber. Jedoch ist der Ort Breiðdalsvík keine Attraktion. Jedoch verfügt das Hotel über einen Hot Pott sowie eine Sauna.

We sliepen in het hotel er naast en het was prachtig. We hadden smsjes gekregen voorafgaand en deze waren ons ontgaan, dit ging of we hier ook wilden eten. Toch konden we nog terecht voor het eten. Het was heerlijk. De gastvrouw hielp ons met plekken in de omgeving om te bekijken. En het ontbijt was uitgebreid. Er is een bar waar je snacks en drinken kan kopen op elk moment van de dag.

The room was a bit small for my family of three. But the bathroom is very spacious. Room is also clean. Room does not have a kettle but there is a common pantry which was useful. The main issue was check in because the check in was not actually at hotel post itself but at the other hotel next door and instructions were not clearly given. We panicked a bit initially because we reached quite late and could not find a way to get into hotel post. Luckily we managed to call the hotel and was told that check in is in the other building.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, but in different rooms, as only one different room was available for each night. We were 2 couples and both rooms contained two double beds (the second room contained an additional single bed). The rooms were clean and comfortable. While we needed to change rooms after the first night, the change itself was smooth, we just moved the suitcases to the neighboring room, even though check in time was much later. Reception is actually in the neighboring hotel, and is available all the time. Check in was smooth and friendly. No breakfast was provided, but there are some places in this small town that do provide coffee and pastry. Would certainly recommend staying here for a larger family.

Relación calidad-precio bastante buena. La habitación es amplia y cómoda, aunque va necesitando alguna reforma. Limpieza correcta aunque no fue de los mejores en Islandia. La recepción se hace en el hotel de al lado donde te dan la llave para la habitación que está en otro edificio. No está mal si te pilla de paso, ayuda a equilibrar el presupuesto en la ruta por Islandia.
