Wir hätten wegen der nicht sonderlich tollen Rezensionen fast einen anderen Platz angefahren - Gut, dass wir sicherheitshalber uns selber ein Bild gemacht haben! -Die Sanitäranlagen (inkl. Duschen) waren sauber und entsprechen voll und ganz dem Island-Niveau - was nun einmal (Gott-sei-Dank!) nichts mit diesen Full-Service-Rummel-Campingplätzen mitteleuropäischer und südeuropäischer Prägung zu tun hat. Dafür liegt der Platz wunderschön am See und ist nicht überlaufen.

I have always liked Höfðavík and even back in 2022 when we came it was a mens bathroom and a womens bathroom but now all showers and toilets are for any gender, probably to avoid certain problems but it is wrong, I found it highly inappropriate that my woman was in the bathroom when 2 men were at the mirrors washing up and brushing teeth. Probably wonderful people but this is ridicilous. Even the woman who ran straight into me in one of the bathrooms took a pause to register that this is how it is.

Everything else is fine, shower is a bit steap 500 for 5 minutes, at least make 2 minutes per 100kr, might as well splurge 7k and goto Vök and make a day of it. However the showers are great and toilets are functional and nice (one of the showers in what use to be the mens room is inoperable because of lodged coins or a full box, strange as review about 3 months ago states the same, meaning this just has not been fixed the whole summer).

Overall loving being here but not a supporter of making everything unisex (which appears to be new since the previous review 3 months ago stated women/men bathroom) to cater to the minority who identifies as whatever they identify as, cheers.

tenhle camp se nam libil nejmene z campu co jsme mavstivili. Opravdu hezka priroda a velke plus byla trampolina pro deti. Absenci kuchynky bych odpustila, i kdyz kuchynky jsou na Islandu skoro vsude a cena kempu neni pro jeji absenci nizsi, nez jine kampy. Co mi ale vadilo nejvic byl ten obrovsky bordel kolem popelnic...

No es nada del otro mundo, pequeñito pero con lo necesario. Las duchas dan un poco desconfianza, además son de pago, pero un detalle que tienen es que los baños tienen calefactor. Para pagar pasa una persona por la mañana tocando las puertas de los vehículos.

BEWARE: The showers cost 500 krona and require coins to operate. Nowhere online was this stated. We had to drive a 40 minute round trip to the nearest town to get change. Then once we finally attempted to shower we discovered that the men's shower was completely inoperable due to coins being lodged in the machine. As a man I was forced to enter the women's bathroom to shower. The shower was advertised to be 5 minutes long but was more like three minutes at best. There are no staff on site to assist with such issues.

Had the camp been busy this would have left only one functioning shower for a camp where dozens of people may be staying.

Aside from these issues the campsite is pleasant with a nice view.

Large, spacious campground with lots of room. Not many people when we were here in July, we were able to camp right next to the lake. All of the sites are on grass. It was peaceful and quiet. There are sinks, (no hot plates) warm bathrooms and showers and electric hookups if you need.

Bisher einer der gemütlichsten Campingplätze auf Island. Einfache Toilette/Duschkombination, Grillplätze, riesiges Sprungkissen für Kinder, windgeschützt durch die vielen Bäume/Lage. Tankstelle gleich nebenan für Offroadtrips idealer Ausgangspunkt. Liebevoll Angelegt
